Water Time with Nomos

Hay presentaciones de las que nunca te olvidas, ya sea por el producto, la gente, el tipo de evento... Esta vez fue la marca de relojes Nomos la que me sorprendió. Cuando entré en la casa en la que presentaban sus nuevos relojes sumergibles me quedé impactado. Una estructura de hormigón con unas cristaleras increíbles, un jardín espectacular y unas vistas al campo que daban ganas de echarte a volar. La piscina era muy apetecible y allí metieron los nuevos modelos sumergibles que en Madrid se pueden encontrar en la joyería Wempe (C/Serrano 58). NOMOS Glashütte es una relojería de alta gama con origen alemán fundada en 1990. Esta primavera han creado una nueva serie de modelos llamada AQUA que pueden sumergirse hasta 200m bajo el agua. Para la presentación se hizo este evento en el que nos reunimos unos cuantos amigos entre ellos el actor Eloy Azorín y mi compañera Anna Ponsa, autora de muchas de estas maravillosas fotos.

There are presentations that you never forget, let it be the product, the people, the type of event... This time it was Nomos who surprised me. When I arrived to the house where they presented their new waterproof watches I was shocked! A concrete structure with incredible windows, overlooking a spectacular garden and a countryside view that made me want to fly. The pool was clear and see through blue, with the new products placed carefully in the water enticing you to swim with them. Here in Madrid they can be found in Wempe jewelry (Serrano st. 58). 
NOMOS Glashütte is a modern and elegant watchmaker brand with German origin founded in 1990. This spring they have created a new series of watches called AQUA that can be submerged up to 200m underwater. For the presentation they set up this event, and I spent the afternoon with some friends including actor Eloy Azorín and my partner Anna Ponsa, author of many of these wonderful photos.  Find more on #NomosAqua

Manlul Of The Month: When Architecture meets Style

I find it a bit difficult to begin writing this text, how can I describe the new Manlul Of The Month ?. It is difficult because we´ve shared many years of experiences together, emotions, good and also bad moments together which makes it impossible to transmit in a few lines. 

Bilbo García-Conde is the Man the Month but also one of the most important persons in my life and definitely my best friend since we were children. Bilbo was born in the Canary Islands but grew up between Asturias and some other places including Dublin. Bilbo embodies what we now call a world citizen. His parents gave him a very open minded education, respecting other people´s opinions and differences as their own. This education has made him an extremely educated person, that knows how to adapt to any situation and is above all, a free man. He began his career with his uncle Francisco Coello of Portugal, who was also his teacher during his early years in architecture school. He was taught by a man with a charisma that I have rarely seen before. Bilbo certainly adopted the passion for good work and respect for the human being from his uncle. They traveled several times together to Mozambique to build a church in a completely altruistic fashion. Years later Bilbo began his solo career with two partners and created a new firm called CDP Architects in tribute to his uncle and in order to follow his legacy. Bilbo is the most generous person I know both materially and emotionally and I'm very lucky that our paths have crossed (thanks to our mothers who introduced us as children!). It is not easy to find and look up to a person who helps you, listens to you, gives you advice and above all makes you laugh and enjoy every moment spent together, every experience and every social gathering as much as possible. The best of all is, I know it's for life. Friendship is one of the few things that lasts forever, because otherwise everything else usually comes and goes.

Se me hace un poco difícil empezar a escribir este texto, ¿cómo describir al nuevo Manlul Of The Month?. Y es difícil porque son muchos años de experiencias juntos, de emociones, de buenos y malos momentos que no sé cómo resumir en unas líneas.  

Bilbo García-Conde el es Hombre Del Mes pero también una de las personas más importantes en mi vida y sin duda mi mejor amigo desde la infancia. Canario de nacimineto y asturiano de adopción, aunque se siente ciudadano del mundo, creció entre diferentes ciudades y estudió arquitectura entre España y México. Viajar y la educación de unos padres con la mente abierta y respeto por la pluralidad hicieron de Bilbo una persona educada, que se adapta a cualquier situación y sobretodo  un hombre libre. Empezó su carrera profesional junto a su tío abuelo Francisco Coello de Portugal, quién fuera su maestro durante sus primeros años en la arquitectura. Aprendió junto a un hombre con un carisma que pocas veces he conocido y una bondad de la que Bilbo sin duda adoptó el buen hacer y el respeto por el ser humano. Juntos viajaron varias veces a Mozambique para construir una iglesia de forma totalmente altruista. Años después Bilbo comenzó su andadura en solitario creando junto a dos socios un nuevo estudio llamado CDP Arquitectos homenajeando a su tío y siguiendo su legado. Bilbo es la persona más generosa que conozco tanto en lo material como en lo emocional y tengo una gran suerte de que nuestros caminos se hayan encontrado (¡gracias a nuestras madres que nos presentaron de pequeños!). No es fácil encontrar y crecer junto a una persona que te ayuda, te escucha, te da consejos y sobretodo te hace reir y disfrutar de cada viaje, cada experiencia y cada fiesta al máximo posible. Y lo mejor de todo es saber que es para toda la vida. La amistad es de las pocas cosas que duran para siempre, porque lo demás suele ir y venir así que todos a disfrutar y a cuidar de los amigos.

Manlul 67: Armani dinner in Madrid

Every time I go to the Duarte Pinto Coelho Palace I remember an epic night that Gala and I spent there… it's a pleasure to be back. This time Armani organized a beautiful dinner for spanish press. Every room looked stunning, perfectly low lighted with candles as I like, creating a very relaxing atmosphere. I ran into several friends and mates from the press such us Lucas Arraut and Baptispte Lauron. It's always great to arrive somewhere and to meet nice and friendly people who make the event a fun evening without the sometimes unavoidable small talk . In the picture I am with Belen Antolin from Vogue and Juán Cebrián from Harper's Bazaar. For this evening I wore a total look by Giorgio Armani, the elegant suit was made of a very soft fabric and was really comfortable. Thank you very much to Juan David and the rest of the Armani team for this great evening!.

Cada vez que entro en el Palacio Duarte Pinto Cohelo me acuerdo de una noche mítica que pasamos allí Gala y yo, ¡siempre es un gusto volver!. En esta ocasión fue Armani quién organizó una cena preciosa con su equipo y gente de la prensa. Los salones estaban impresionantes, todo iluminado con velas y una luz muy baja como a mi me gusta, creando un ambiente muy relajado. ¡No soporto la luz directa o muy blanca!. Me encontré con muchos compañeros de prensa y amigos como Lucas Arraut y Baptispte Lauron. Siempre es genial poder llegar a un sitio y conocer a gente simpática y agradable que sabes que te van a hacer pasar una noche divertida y no vas a tener el típico muermo de conversaciones. En la foto estoy con Belén Antolín de Vogue y  Juan Cebrián de Harper´s Bazaar. Para esta noche llevé un total look de Giorgio Armani, el traje era comodísimo y muy especial . Cada vez que alguien se acercaba a mi me tocaba y me comentaba lo mismo, wow, ¡qué suave!. Un verdadero traje Armani. Muchas gracias a Juan David y a todo el equipo por esta gran noche!

Manlul 62: Autumn has arrived!

The oaks and beeches are changing colors, autumn has arrived! and with it the most incredible sceneries of the year. It's time for nice walks and enjoy the landscapes. It is also the season I like the most because I can start wearing my favorite garment: sweaters!. It is a good time to renew the closet, coats and accessories are waiting for us. The bag I carry on the pictures matches perfectly with the season, I love the color and touching the leather it’s a real experience, along with shoes make a perfect combination, both by Louboutin. I am also wearing Dockers pants, Mango Man sweater and Calvin Klein watch. The shirt is by Batabasta, a very special brand which makes amazing original prints. My new acquisition for the bike is the helmet by Diesel, really comfortable.! Happy autumn!.

El otoño ya está aquí, una de mis estaciones preferidas porque los robles y las hayas se ponen impresionantes y se producen los paisajes más increíbles del año. Y porque me puedo poner la prenda que más me gusta: ¡los jerséis!. Es un buen momento para ampliar el armario con abrigos y complementos. La bolsa que llevo en las fotos es de piel y va perfectamente con la estación, me encanta el color y da mucho gusto tocarla, junto con los zapatos hacen una combinación perfecta, ambos son de Louboutin. Los pantalones son Dockers, el jersey de Mango Man y el reloj de Calvin Klein. La camisa es de una marca muy especial, Batabasta, que hacen unos estampados realmente originales. Y mi nueva adquisición para la moto es este casco de Diesel, realmente cómodo. ¡Feliz otoño!.

Manlul Of The Month: Clement Chabernaud

May's Manlul of The Month is super model Clement Chabernaud. Many of you might know him since he started working as a model when he was 16 and he's been the face of a million campaigns getting more and more success every season. Nevertheless, Clemenet's best virtues are not his looks but his charisma and unpretentious simple way of being. He is a very special person who doesn't follow the unwritten behaviour rules of the fashion industry and still, he endears himself effortlessly wherever he goes, no matter what.

We met by chance many years ago and ever since, every time we see each other we have a blast together and with the rest of the gang. This happens pretty much every time I travel to New York city since Clement shares a cozy apartment with my brother Félix in the East Village. Last time I saw him I met his 86 year old grandmother whom Clement is very close with. He had talked to me about her many times, she's a petit amazing woman full of energy. She travels often with Clement from city to city when he is walking shows. This time, in Madrid Fashion Week, it was great to see how he was taking super good care of her making sure she was all right at all times, securing a seat for her at the shows etc.

Five years ago we drove together from Barcelona to Madrid. It was pouring down and Clement picked me up on a shabby Peugeot from yonks ago. Once in the motorway, already leaving the city behind, the car broke down… Clement got off the car and started using pliers under the rain… I didn't really had any hope of getting it fixed on the spot but after 15 minutes of wire touching he managed to make it work! so soaking wet, we kept on driving! haha! Buena suerte Clement!

El Manlul de este mes es el modelo Clement Chabernaud. Supongo que muchos lo conocéis porque hace todas las campañas del mundo y lleva trabajando desde los 16 años con más éxito cada temporada. Pero lo mejor de Clement es su carisma y sencillez, tiene un carácter muy especial, siempre a su bola sin seguir ningún protocolo pero haciéndose querer allá donde va. Nos conocimos hace muchos años por casualidad y desde entonces cada vez que nos vemos en alguna ciudad nos unimos una buena pandilla para celebrarlo. Cuando voy a NYC le suelo ver (sino está de viaje) porque vive con mi hermano en un apartamento muy acogedor en el East Village. La última vez que estuvimos juntos conocí a su abuela, Clement siempre me hablaba de ella. tiene 86 años y están muy unidos. Lo más fuerte es que se la lleva a los desfiles de ciudad en ciudad, ¡tiene más energía que nosotros!. Todo el mundo alucinaba al verle cuidar de ella, buscarlo un sitio y asegurarse de que estaba bien. Encima es muy pequeña y el altísimo jaja. Hace unos cinco años nos fuimos en coche de Barcelona a Madrid, Clement me recogió con un Peugot reventao del año catapún y saliendo de la ciudad en pleno diluvio nos quedamos tirados en la autopista. Él se bajó todo decidido y empezó a sacar alicates, yo pensé que ni de coña arrancábamos y ya estaba pensando en la grúa y todo el rollo… pero ¡después de 15 minutos tocando cables lo consiguió arreglar! Muy crack. ¡Buena suerte Chabernaud!
