Manlul 67: The Spanish Mafia goes to Long Island

 

In the March issue of the Glamour magazine you can read a feature story about the #SpanishMafiaDoesfw. I guess many of you have already seen pictures on Instagram of the group of good friends with whom we usually hang out during the Fashion Week month: Maria Parra, Miranda Makaroff, Pascal Moscheni, Angela Esteban, Clement Chabernaud ... and many more. The pictures were taken by Camila Falquez during Felix's birthday. As every year, we celebrate it at a special place and it´s always a theme party. This time we drove to a motel in Long Island that has welcomed guests since 1957 and still remaining exactly the same. A really charming location where we drunk and danced like there was no tomorrow. It was incredible!. One of the best weekends of my life without a doubt. Este mes en la edición española de la revista Glamour dedican un reportaje a la #SpanishMafiaDoesfw. Supongo que muchos ya habréis visto fotos en Instagram del grupo de buenos amigos con los que nos juntamos durante las Fashion Weeks: María Parra, Miranda Makaroff, Pascal Moscheni, Ángela Esteban, Clement Chabernaud… y muchos más. Estás fotos nos las hizo Camila Falquez durante el cumpleaños de Félix. Como cada año lo celebramos en un lugar especial y con una temática concreta. Esta vez fue en un motel de Long Island que lleva abierto desde 1957 y sigue manteniéndose exactamente igual. Un lugar con muchísimo encanto donde nos juntamos todos para vestirnos de la época, beber y bailar. ¡Fue increíble!. Uno de los mejores fines de semana de mi vida sin duda. Manlul Of The Month: Clement Chabernaud

May's Manlul of The Month is super model Clement Chabernaud. Many of you might know him since he started working as a model when he was 16 and he's been the face of a million campaigns getting more and more success every season. Nevertheless, Clemenet's best virtues are not his looks but his charisma and unpretentious simple way of being. He is a very special person who doesn't follow the unwritten behaviour rules of the fashion industry and still, he endears himself effortlessly wherever he goes, no matter what.

We met by chance many years ago and ever since, every time we see each other we have a blast together and with the rest of the gang. This happens pretty much every time I travel to New York city since Clement shares a cozy apartment with my brother Félix in the East Village. Last time I saw him I met his 86 year old grandmother whom Clement is very close with. He had talked to me about her many times, she's a petit amazing woman full of energy. She travels often with Clement from city to city when he is walking shows. This time, in Madrid Fashion Week, it was great to see how he was taking super good care of her making sure she was all right at all times, securing a seat for her at the shows etc.

Five years ago we drove together from Barcelona to Madrid. It was pouring down and Clement picked me up on a shabby Peugeot from yonks ago. Once in the motorway, already leaving the city behind, the car broke down… Clement got off the car and started using pliers under the rain… I didn't really had any hope of getting it fixed on the spot but after 15 minutes of wire touching he managed to make it work! so soaking wet, we kept on driving! haha! Buena suerte Clement!

El Manlul de este mes es el modelo Clement Chabernaud. Supongo que muchos lo conocéis porque hace todas las campañas del mundo y lleva trabajando desde los 16 años con más éxito cada temporada. Pero lo mejor de Clement es su carisma y sencillez, tiene un carácter muy especial, siempre a su bola sin seguir ningún protocolo pero haciéndose querer allá donde va. Nos conocimos hace muchos años por casualidad y desde entonces cada vez que nos vemos en alguna ciudad nos unimos una buena pandilla para celebrarlo. Cuando voy a NYC le suelo ver (sino está de viaje) porque vive con mi hermano en un apartamento muy acogedor en el East Village. La última vez que estuvimos juntos conocí a su abuela, Clement siempre me hablaba de ella. tiene 86 años y están muy unidos. Lo más fuerte es que se la lleva a los desfiles de ciudad en ciudad, ¡tiene más energía que nosotros!. Todo el mundo alucinaba al verle cuidar de ella, buscarlo un sitio y asegurarse de que estaba bien. Encima es muy pequeña y el altísimo jaja. Hace unos cinco años nos fuimos en coche de Barcelona a Madrid, Clement me recogió con un Peugot reventao del año catapún y saliendo de la ciudad en pleno diluvio nos quedamos tirados en la autopista. Él se bajó todo decidido y empezó a sacar alicates, yo pensé que ni de coña arrancábamos y ya estaba pensando en la grúa y todo el rollo… pero ¡después de 15 minutos tocando cables lo consiguió arreglar! Muy crack. ¡Buena suerte Chabernaud!

Manlul 51: Mango + Barcelona = Happiness

To return to Barcelona always translates to happiness to me. Although this time it was pretty cold and the streets were quiet, the city never loses its charm, Barcelona t`estimo!. The pleasure is even greater when the invitation comes from Mango, a brand that continues growing and reaffirming its success and whose Men collection gets better and better every season. They chose the 080 platform again to present their new collection. This time the show and the after party was held at the Maritime Museum , a beautiful and stunning building in which ships were built since the XIII century.  It was a fantastic event, between  friends , dancing and having lots of fun. Unfortunately, Gala  couldn't make it this season and she was truly missed. Thanks to the Mango team for taking such good care of us! And so nice to stay at the W Hotel Barcelona! what a view...so beautiful! Pretty much a classic already . See you next season!

Volver a Barcelona es siempre signo de felicidad. A pesar de que esta vez las calles estuvieran tranquilas y el frío azotara la ciudad, nunca deja de perder el encanto que tiene, Barcelona t`estimo!. Aún mayor es el gusto cuando la invitación viene de la mano de Mango, gran marca que sigue triunfando y en la que el departamento de Hombre mejoran sus colecciones en cada temporada. Una vez más eligieron el marco de la pasarela 080 para presentar su nueva colección. En esta ocasión el desfile y la posterior fiesta se celebró en el Museo Marítimo, un precioso edificio en el que se construyeron barcos desde el siglo XIII. Muy divertido, rodeados de amigos, bailando y pasándolo bien. Una pena que Gala no pudiera venir esta vez, la echamos de menos. Gracias a todo el equipo de Mango por hacernos sentir tan bien y por la buena organización, ¡qué agusto se está en el W Hotel y qué vistas tan bonitas! Ya casi un clásico. ¡See you next time!

If you're following my Instagram, you've seen once again that I attended the He by Mango show at the opening of 080 Barcelona. It was exceptional! The spectacular location they chose for the event was the Sant Pau Hospital, a modernist construction by Lluis Domenech i Montaner. It was like being in Hansel and Gretel. The men's collection was elegant and simply beautiful. The models, jackets, turtlenecks, suits and tuxedos were exceptional. Honestly, I would wear everything! Congratulations to all those who worked on this, it gets better and better! Looking forward to the next season!! In the meantime, enjoy! Moltes gràcies Mango!

Si seguís mi Instagram habréis visto que un año mas pude asistir al desfile de He by Mango en la apertura del 080 Barcelona, pero esta vez ha sido aún más especial. Primero por el sitio tan espectacular que eligieron para hacerlo, el Hospital de Sant Pau, una obra modernista de Lluís Domènech i Montaner espectacular. Tenía la sensación de estar en el mundo de Hansel y Gretel, ¡donde quiera que miraras estabas dentro de un cuento! Y segundo porque la colección de hombre que presentaron me pareció preciosa y muy elegante. Todos los modelos me gustaron, las chaquetas, los jerséis de cuello alto, los trajes, smokings… La verdad es que me lo pondría todo. ¡Enhorabuena al equipo porque cada vez lo estais haciendo mejor! A ver con qué nos nos sorprende la próxima colección pero de momento a disfrutar del futuro otoño. ¡Moltes gràcies Mango!

La semana pasada fueron los desfiles en Madrid y Alex Agulló y el equipo de XXL me invitaron a ver las creaciones de Nuria Sardà. Es siempre uno de los mejores desfiles porque ponen mucho empeño en la escenografía, la música.. y te dejan imaginar y soñar. No es el típico desfile aburrido sino que intentan innovar y provocar algo en el espectador. En la pasada edición celebraron su 50 aniversario y fue impresionante. También vi el desfile de Amaia Arzuaga y Duyos que me gustaron mucho los dos.
Nos reunimos unos cuantos amigos, entre ellos Clement que se venía con nosotros cuando tenía ratos libres y Silvia, (Lady Addict) que estaba trabajando de presentadora para MBFWM TV, enhorabuena!

Last Week it was Madrid Fashion Week and I was invited by my friend Alex Agulló and XXL to see Andrés Sardà`s show. It is usually one of the best shows, cause they always put great effort and creativity in the art direction; they arouse your imagination and surprise you with the scenography, the music.. it was really beautiful.
We gathered with some friends, Clement who came from NYC, Lady Addict who was working as a tv host for MBFWM and some others you can see in the photos.
