El Hotel Margot House de Barcelona se convirtió en uno de mis lugares preferidos nada más atravesar su puerta. Lo primero por su perfecta ubicación, está en pleno Paseo de Gracia, una de las calles más impresionantes del mundo, y lo segundo porque todo en su interior está perfectamente cuidado. Realmente te sientes como en tu casa, bueno, ¡ojalá todo tuviéramos una casa así!. Quiero decir que para nada tienes la sensación de estar en un hotel. Uno de los motivos por los que estás tan cómodo es porque no es el típico macro espacio, tiene solo 9 habitaciones. La recepción es discreta y no hay nada de ruido, me encanta que no tienes que esperar tres horas a que te atiendan para cogerte el pasaporte o estar obligado a comerte a doscientos turistas dando voces.

El suelo es de cemento pulido y es un placer caminar descalzo, en mi casa también lo tenemos y me parece comodísimo. Todas las sábanas, cojines, toallas etc. son de algodón y de telas naturales que da muchísimo gusto tocar. Cada detalle en el baño también está pensado desde los jábones, el champú, las cremas… de lo mejor ¡es toda una experiencia sensorial!. Cuando entré en el cuarto y vi que tenía vistas a la Casa Batlló pensé, Uy, ¡aquí va a haber mucho ruido! ya que en Paseo de Gracia hay tráfico de coches y autobuses, pero al contrario, los cristales están totalmente sellados y no se oye absolutamente nada. Y si algo es característico del Margot House es el silencio que se respira y la paz que transmite. El hotel es un proyecto de Vänskap Studio.

Además tiene una selección de las mejores revistas y también puedes comprar unas velas que huelen muy muy bien.

El desayuno está buenísmo, un bufet muy completo, zumos y todo tipo de tés.

The moment I crossed the door of the Margot House Hotel in Barcelona I knew it was going to be one of my favorite places in the city. A part of being located in the Paseo de Gracia, one of the most stunning streets in the world, everything inside is perfectly maintained. It really feels like being at home, well, I wish we all had a home like that! But what I mean is that you don't have that feeling of being in a hotel. One of the reasons why it's so comfortable is because it is not the typical macro space, as it only has 9 rooms. The reception is discreet and not noisy at all, I love that you do not have to wait three hours to do the check-in or walk a cross through hundreds of annoying tourists.

The floor is made with polished concrete and it's a pleasure to walk barefoot, we have the same at my place and it's super comfy. All the blankets, pillows, towels etc.  are 100% cotton and natural fabrics and it feels so good to touch them. Every detail in the bathroom is also thought-out, from the soaps to the shampoo, the creams… Amazing! It's a whole sensory experience!. When I got in to the room and saw the huge window in front of the Casa Batllo I thought, Oh, here there will be a lot of noise! as Paseo de Gracia is a quite crowded street with also many cars and buses, but it was a big surprise to discover that the crystals are completely sealed and you can here absolutely nothing. Because if something is characteristic of the Margot House it's the silence that you breath and the peace that you feel. The hotel is a project by Vänskap Studio.

It also has a selection of the best magazines and you can buy some candles that smell really well.

The breakfast is very yummy, a delicious buffet with all kinds of juices and teas. I guess who follow me on Instagram have seen the photos I posted when I was there. Absolut happiness!.

FonteCruz Ávila

Este fin de semana lo pasé en Ávila, una ciudad que está muy cerca de Madrid pero en la que nunca había estado. Al llegar de noche, mientras me acercaba conduciendo, me quedé impactado con la grandeza de la muralla, enorme. Está toda iluminada y es larguísima (2.516m). Son las murallas medievales mejor conservadas del mundo.
El motivo principal de mi visita fue una fiesta sorpresa que  hicimos a dos amigos por su cumpleaños, en unos días subiré las fotos, el sitio es aluciante.

Buscando dónde alojarme me llamó la atención el Hotel FonteCruz Ávila Golf. ¡Y qué bien hice! Lo mejor de todo fue entrar en la habitación y ver que tenía chimenea, ¡increíble! uno de mis sueños. Nunca había estado en una habitación en la que la chimenea se pudiera utilizar literalmente. Al principio tuve mis dudas pero cuando vi la cesta con la leña, las pastillas de encender y las cerillas no tardé ni dos minutos en ponerla en marcha. El cuarto era una bohardilla con un pequeño salón y un hall-vestidor grande. Cenamos unas hamburguesas caseras que estaban buenísimas, carne de primera. Y fue una noche tranquila de vino, Nina Simone y relax. Un gusto.

Al la mañana siguiente fue una sorpresa abrir la ventana y ver el paisaje: montañas y un campo de golf que pertenece al propio hotel. El salón del desayuno es muy agradable con grandes ventanales por donde entra mucha luz y también tiene un spa y cabinas donde te puedes hacer masajes y diferentes tratamientos. Desde luego una buena elección, ¡espero volver muy pronto!.

Love Boat Party #VacacionesEnElMar2014

It has already become a tradition! One more year we celebrated my brother and other friend's birthday in Asturias gathering around 50 friends from different parts of Spain and the world in the funniest fancy dress party!. Last year the costume theme was "Amish Fair" (This post). 

Late October can be cold in Asturias, but as last year we were very lucky and the weather was amazing, around  27 C! 

In the end they went for " The Love Boat" as the theme of the party. All dressed up as the characters in the legendary 80's tv show set in ​​a tacky luxury cruise.  There were captains, sailors, entertainers, bartenders and a few passengers, like me, who arrived with my friend Barbara driving an old Mercedes with vintage Suitcases.

The party was held at Hotel Villarosario in Ribadesella, a stunning modernistic beachfront mansion from the early 20th century. 

Delicious food and drinks were served all day, and our friend Clara dj'd the best music specially chosen for the occasion. Everyone was dancing and having the best time and some of the guests even went for a quick swim at the beach.

The location could have not been more perfect. 

After sunset everyone went to the village center  to continue the party with their costumes on. Many of the girls had a funny "Reception with the captain" second outfit for nighttime.

Thank you very much Felix, Gloria, Elena and Pedro for an unforgettable party. 

Let's see what we do next year ... it will be hard to beat!

Como ya viene siendo tradición un año más celebramos el cumpleaños de mi hermano y otros amigos reuniéndonos toda la pandilla en Asturias. El año pasado el tema fue "Feria Amish" (Aquí el post). Para esta ocasión se estuvieron barajando varias opciones, había que tener en cuenta que a finales de octubre ya suele hacer frío, pero un año más tuvimos muchísima suerte y nos tocó fin de semana de 27 C! Al final decidieron que el tema fuera "Vacaciones En El Mar". Todos vestidos como en la mítica serie de los 80 ambientada en un barco que hacía cruceros de lujo (The Love Boat). Hubo capitanes, marineros, animadores, camareros y unos cuantos pasajeros, como yo, que llegué con Bárbara de pareja en un Mercedes antiguo con una maleta auténtica de los 70. 

Lo celebramos en el Hotel Villarosario, un palacio impresionante en primera línea de playa en Ribadesella. Allí estuvimos comiendo y bebiendo todo el día, sonaba música especialmente elegida para la ocasión. Algunos se fueron a bañar porque realmente hacía mucho calor y la localización no podía ser más perfecta. Y por la noche al pueblo a seguir la fiesta, todos disfrazados. Muchas de las chicas se trajeron segundo modelito para los bares, jaja.

Muchas gracias a Félix, Gloria, Pedro y Elena por una fiesta inolvidable. A ver qué hacemos el año que viene… ¡será dificil de superar!

The Standard Hotel

Ubicado en uno de los epicentros de la Fashion Week de Nueva York, el Meet Packing District, el Standard Hotel se erige como sitio clave para alojarse o visitar durante estos días tan intensos. Muchos de los desfiles y presentaciones se hacen muy cerca del hotel y desde sus ventanas se pueden contemplar unas vistas increíbles de Manhattan. En el edificio de al lado están los Milk Studios, son tan poderosos que aparte de cientos de producciones de foto se hacen muchísimos eventos. Rodeado de restaurantes y bares de copas, en la última planta tiene sus dos propias discotecas, El Boom Boom Room y Le Bain. Todos los que hayáis visto la película “Shame” de Steve McQueen lo habréis reconocido, Michael Fassbender en la habitación haciendo de las suyas…

En la planta baja tiene un restaurante que se llama Standard Grill donde se cena genial, hacen todo tipo de cócteles y te puedes encontrar a Anna Wintour tomando el brunch o ir a una de las fiestas de Purple Magazine.

Located in one of the epicenters of New York Fashion Week , the Meet Packing District , the Standard Hotel is a perfect place to stay or visit during such  intense days.

 Many of the shows and presentations happen very close to the hotel and you get amazing views of the city from its rooms.

Milk Studios, one of the most important studios in Manhattan, where many events, shows and presentations happen during the week, is two blocks away.

The Standard is surrounded by many restaurants, shops and bars and on the top floor the hotel has its own two nightclubs , The Boom Boom Room and Le Bain. Those who have watched the movie "Shame " by Steve McQueen will recognized the rooms where Michael Fassbender was messing around...

On the ground floor you can find the Standard Grill restaurant, a good option to have great  cocktails brunch or dinner. It's a melting point during Fashion Week and you can spot editors, models, stylist haven a break from their hectic days.
