Manlul Of The Month: Blue Paradise

Those who follow this section will probably remember this unique place: a beautiful scandinavian cabin on the coast of eastern Asturias, near Ribadesella.

This is the perfect place to find peace near the sea, surrounded by nature, and enjoying wonderful sunsets. Inside the cabin everything is harmonious and it is impossible not to feel comfortable and relaxed in such a welcoming environment.

The protagonist of this Manful of the Month is Carlos (some of you might remember the post I dedicated to his brother David). He studies to be a veterinarian -like his father- hundreds of kilometers away from Asturias, but every time he has a chance, he returns to his homeland and enjoys every minute in this unique place. He loves surfing and he's lucky enough to have a stunning beach with good waves just a few meters from the cabin. He also enjoys climbing the nearby "Peaks of Europe", and when the sea and the mountains are not within reach, he practices skateboard and slackline. 

It's always a pleasure to spend time with Carlitos, such a charismatic and happy person!. Long live the cabin!

A los que seguís esta sección os sonará este lugar tan especial: una preciosa cabaña con aire escandinavo en la costa del oriente asturiano, muy cerca de Ribadesella. Es el sitio perfecto para encontrar paz cerca del mar, rodeado de naturaleza y disfrutando de las maravillosas puestas de sol. Dentro de la cabaña todo es armonía y es imposible no sentirse a gusto y relajado en un entorno tan acogedor.
El protagonista de este Manful of the Month es Carlos (algunos recordaréis el post que hice sobre su hermano David). Estudia para ser veterinario -como su padre-  a cientos de kilómetros de Asturias, pero cada vez que puede vuelve a su tierra y aprovecha para disfrutar cada minuto en este lugar único.Le encanta el surf que practica en la impresionante playa a escasos metros de la cabaña. También escala a menudo en los cercanos Picos de Europa, y cuando el mar y la montaña no están tan a mano, recurre al skate y el slackline. 

Los que estamos cerca de Carlitos disfrutamos cada verano de su carisma y su alegría, ¡por muchos años!.

Love Boat Party #VacacionesEnElMar2014

It has already become a tradition! One more year we celebrated my brother and other friend's birthday in Asturias gathering around 50 friends from different parts of Spain and the world in the funniest fancy dress party!. Last year the costume theme was "Amish Fair" (This post). 

Late October can be cold in Asturias, but as last year we were very lucky and the weather was amazing, around  27 C! 

In the end they went for " The Love Boat" as the theme of the party. All dressed up as the characters in the legendary 80's tv show set in ​​a tacky luxury cruise.  There were captains, sailors, entertainers, bartenders and a few passengers, like me, who arrived with my friend Barbara driving an old Mercedes with vintage Suitcases.

The party was held at Hotel Villarosario in Ribadesella, a stunning modernistic beachfront mansion from the early 20th century. 

Delicious food and drinks were served all day, and our friend Clara dj'd the best music specially chosen for the occasion. Everyone was dancing and having the best time and some of the guests even went for a quick swim at the beach.

The location could have not been more perfect. 

After sunset everyone went to the village center  to continue the party with their costumes on. Many of the girls had a funny "Reception with the captain" second outfit for nighttime.

Thank you very much Felix, Gloria, Elena and Pedro for an unforgettable party. 

Let's see what we do next year ... it will be hard to beat!

Como ya viene siendo tradición un año más celebramos el cumpleaños de mi hermano y otros amigos reuniéndonos toda la pandilla en Asturias. El año pasado el tema fue "Feria Amish" (Aquí el post). Para esta ocasión se estuvieron barajando varias opciones, había que tener en cuenta que a finales de octubre ya suele hacer frío, pero un año más tuvimos muchísima suerte y nos tocó fin de semana de 27 C! Al final decidieron que el tema fuera "Vacaciones En El Mar". Todos vestidos como en la mítica serie de los 80 ambientada en un barco que hacía cruceros de lujo (The Love Boat). Hubo capitanes, marineros, animadores, camareros y unos cuantos pasajeros, como yo, que llegué con Bárbara de pareja en un Mercedes antiguo con una maleta auténtica de los 70. 

Lo celebramos en el Hotel Villarosario, un palacio impresionante en primera línea de playa en Ribadesella. Allí estuvimos comiendo y bebiendo todo el día, sonaba música especialmente elegida para la ocasión. Algunos se fueron a bañar porque realmente hacía mucho calor y la localización no podía ser más perfecta. Y por la noche al pueblo a seguir la fiesta, todos disfrazados. Muchas de las chicas se trajeron segundo modelito para los bares, jaja.

Muchas gracias a Félix, Gloria, Pedro y Elena por una fiesta inolvidable. A ver qué hacemos el año que viene… ¡será dificil de superar!

El puente de diciembre me fui a Ribadesella con mis hermanas y mi madre y fue uno de los fines de semana más relajante y gustosos de mi vida. Elena Goded, una amiga de la familia, nos dejó su recién estrenada casa, un sitio precioso con muchísima luz, montón de espacio y decorada a la perfección, ¡qué cómodos estuvimos!. Muchísimas gracias a Elena y a las hermanas Lanzas.

Ya que no vinieron muchos amigos este puente aproveché para descansar, ver películas, pasear y estar en familia que al final es lo que más cuenta. Disfruté muchísimo despertándome después de dormir mil horas, desayunando con mis hermanas... espero que pronto nos podamos hacer una casa como esta. El arquitecto es Koto García-Conde y desde aquí le doy la enhorabuena. Que suerte poder pertenecer a un sitio como Ribadesella, ¡el mejor lugar para volver cada vez que se pueda!.

Last week I had a great-relaxing-and pleasent long weekend with my sisters and Mum in Asturias. A friend of the family let use  her beautiful and cozy house, so enjoyable! Thank you so much to Elena Goded and sisters Lanzas.
Very few friends came to Ribadesella so I took advantage of the free time to sleep, watch movies and be with the family. Hope we can have a house like this one day. Best place ever!
